Saturday we set off for Monkey Island. We met up with our friends Hans, Becky, and the girls down at Mikasa Park where we caught the ferry to the island. It was a nice day but very windy. As soon as we arrived we were all pretty hungry so we sat down to have a picnic lunch. We barley got started and a seahawk swooped down and stole Hans's sandwich right out of his hand. We were all pretty stunned and a little shook up. We decided to move everything under a small covered area hoping that they would try to come back for more. After lunch we began to hike up in the trails. We made it to the far side of the island and found some stairs leading down to the water. There were several Japanese people down there fishing. We climbed down the stairs and walked the rocks for a little bit before we headed back to the beach area. The kids were dying to play on the beach. We pitched a blanket and the kids began to play. i set off to walk the beach and find beach glass. Sure enough I found quite a bit in the little amount of time that I looked. As we were sitting a relaxing on the beach there was a pretty large group of young Japanese people up behind us having a good time. They kept trying to throw each other into the water. Eventually when we were packing up to go several of them did end up in the water. I couldn't believe it. It was nice outside but the wind was making it kind of cold. I would not have liked to have been completely soaked. Especially on a island.
