Vann's First Zoo

Saturday we went to the zoo. It was up towards Yokohama. It took us about a half an hour to get there. We weren't to sure what to expect because this zoo was free to get into. I am not quite sure how it can be free but I wasn't going to complain. We had to walk about ten minutes when we got off the train to the park/zoo. By the time we got to the zoo is was beginning to get pretty warm outside. We had to stop by a vending machine and get something to drink. We also needed to shed some of our layers that we were wearing. As I was standing by the entrance of the zoo we noticed this older gentleman sitting a feeding the pigeons. I thought it was kind of funny because the pigeons were all over him. It kind of reminded me of the Bird Lady in Home Alone II. It just was odd to see. Right before we entered the zoo Tony put Vann's monkey leash on him and he took took off. The first stop was some birds. Vann thought that was pretty cool. Once we were done there we went and saw some monkeys. Vann tried to talk to them. He was waving and saying oo oo ah ah. I thought it was cute. Then he was off again. We then saw a lion and a tiger. Vann was really excited. The lion was walking up and down the fence and every time it would come near us Vann would go crazy. He would jump up and down and wave. We had to pull him away from every animal cage. He would have stayed there all day if we would have let him. We then saw some zebras, giraffes, flamingos, and a camel. I felt bad for some of the animals, their cages were really small. Especially the camel. Once we were done looking at most of the animals outside we went into the building that had all of the reptiles. I was not happy, I didn't really want to go in there. I get the creeps just thinking about a snake let alone seeing one. Of course there were huge pythons and boa constrictors in there. Tony just told me to run by them. Yeah that works! Oh well I made it through.
Off to the petting zoo next. So their idea of a petting zoo is not what we think of a petting zoo. there were tables with a two inch ledge on them and they were full of mice. I was not going to let Vann touch the mice but there were Guinea pigs that he got to touch. After he had touched a Guinea pig he moved one to touch a rooster. Yeah a rooster at a zoo! For some reason I decided to look up and I was so disgusted with what I saw I told Tony I had to leave. The mice were running a long rope right above our heads. I was afraid one might fall on me so I had to leave. As I was leaving the petting zoo area a lady was putting rats up on a rope near the entrance. I don't like these kind of petting zoos. Here are some pictures of the animals that we saw.
Here is the gentleman with all of the pigeons on him.
These were some bushes that you saw as soon as you
walked into the zoo.
